OT: Freeware DVD Player

Although alt.comp.software would ostensibly be a better place to ask
this, that group does not seem to be active.

Can anyone recommend a workable freeware DVD player?

I've refurbed a relative's machine that has a DVD reader in it. I'm not
sure if the PC can keep up with movie playback, but it's unlikely to see
much use even if it can. Still, I would like to leave it able to do so.

Having gone through dozens of freeware dvd players at download.com, I've
found that they are:

1) Not really freeware.

2) Not really dvd players.

3) Riddled with spyware.

I guess the recipients of this machine can always shell out $10 to buy a
media player plug-in, but I hate to make that their first option. Any
consideration you make is appreciated.

In spite of having recommending it several times, I neglected to check
videohelp.com.

I would, nonetheless, like to hear any personal picks you would care to
offer.
