OT..av Questions

Ive posted this on a virus newsgroup but havent had an answer yet and i
know many posters here use AVG or avast so maybe someone knows..heres my
questions...
Firstly ,testing avast (free) ,i notice that theres no option to create
rescue disks. If you cant load windows because of a virus ,would this
pose a problem? and what would be the workaround (assuming you only have
avast installed)?
Secondly (this may sound silly)AVG does allow you to create rescue disks
in case windows wont load to use the main programme. My question is though
, does AVG need to be installed on the computer to use the rescue disks ?
or are they self contained and stand alone, rather like fprot which can
be run purely from the floppy?.
TIA

The rescue disk is independent of Windows.

Careful! If you use NTFS (as in Windows 2K and XP), make sure the rescue
disk supports it!

Thanks for answer ..much appreciated.I flit between AVG 6 free /7 and
Avast home (free).AVG 7
on occasions interfears with other apps i have running.Current version of
avast doesnt at present so im inclined to use that for a while , but i
wondered whether i could still use the AVG7 rescue disks (floppies) that
i made even though ive uninstalled AVG7 from pc,in case of emergencies. It
seems i can.I wonder why avast doesnt have recue disk creation though?
thanks again

Good question! :)

I haven't checked, but that may be a feature on the registered version of
Avast.

Even with this feature missing, Avast is still the best IMHO. I'm sure there
are free rescue disks out there from some of the AV developers.
