Option Button

I created a document that has option buttons. How do I take the document out
of design mode, so that when my users open it, it is not in design mode? By
default, it is always opening in design mode, even if I take it out before
closing the document.

TIA,

Kim

The only option buttons that can be placed in the body of a document
come from the Control Toolbox, and they're ActiveX controls. The
Office security mechanism considers ActiveX controls to be in the same
"virus threat" class as macros.

Any document containing any ActiveX control will open in design mode
-- that is, disabled -- if the user's macro security level is set to
High (or if it's Medium and the user clicks Disable in the warning
box).

This article explains at greater length:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnword2k2/html/odc_activeX.asp

With both ActiveX and macros, simply removing them doesn't "clean" the
document and stop the security mechanism from messing with it. To do
that, use File > Save As and save the document in RTF form; then open
the RTF file and save it as a Word document. The result will be clean.
