Option buttons in Word

I keep getting the error message "Cannot exit design mode because
OptionButton 222 cannot be created" when I try to exit design mode in Word.
My document is a table with lots of option buttons in it. Why am I getting
this message?

Sounds as if the document is damaged; perhaps it's having trouble supporting so
many ActiveX controls. ActiveX controls are actually embedded programs, and
require a fair amount of resources. It's quite possible that Word just isn't
able to finish composing the page with so many controls.

Or, it could be that this one particular control has "gone bad". Find it,
delete it, save the document, close and re-open. If that works with no
problems, try creating the control again.
