Open Word 2000 files in Word 2003 very slow

I have some files created in Word 2000, when I try to open them in Word 2003,
it's very very slow, it's unacceptable. And at the end, it can be open.
I did not install Symantec/Norton AntiVirus on both of the PC, and Word did
not give me any error message.
Any suggestion?

Once you have such a Word 2000 document open (finally) in Word 2003, go to
Tools/Template and Addins and look at the setting for the Attached Template.
Does the template still exist, and in the exact same path as given? If not, this
would be the cause of what you're seeing. See this article
