Open JPEG files

Hi there!

I have returned recently from a Egiptian travel and surpresly, when I tried
to open the images taken from my HP Camara passed into a CD, my
computer(Windows XP Professional) said that it is not possible. The error
message is: unknown file. But the format is a jpeg format and everythings is
ok with de ocupation megas. So the CD is not empty and de format is a correct
one.

How can I recover my photos?

Sincerely

Tarabol

HP camera passed into a CD??? How are the photos stored within the
camera, are they on a memory stick or flashcard or on a CD? You did
not state what type/model of camera so that leaves out a lot to be answered.
If the photos are still stored in the camera, try to transfer them to your
harddrive first.

Thank you, Byte, for your answer. The cuestion is that I have already deleted
my memory card to continue taken photos. A shop in El Cairo (wich looks very
professional) passed the information on the memory Card in a CDs store and
most of the CDs were able to open the images inside. Only a CD had a problem,
but I am very sad to loose so special photos. And, besides, I am so troubled
for not be able to understand why.

My camara is a hp photosmart 935 and my operative system, Windows XP ¿What
can I do?

Can you look at the contents of the CD with Windows Explorer? Do the
files have the *.jpg extension? If not, you probably need to copy them
to your hard drive and rename them with that extension. That would
allow you to open them by double-clicking them. But you should be able
to open them with any image-processing program anyway, by using the
program's File|Open command.

If you don't have such a program, get a *very* good, free one from
www.irfanview.com.

Did you try coping the pictures from the CD to the computer? Or did you try
opening them directly from the CD?

If there were several CD's made at the same time and place and only ONE
exibits this problem, then it is likely that the problem occured during
the burning process.

Yes, perhaps this was the cause of the problem but ¿are there any solution?
Thanks

Yes, the files have a jpeg extension but any program I have already tried was
able to open it. Neither Windows Explorer nor Photoshop, nor ACDC or
Irfanview. The error message depends on the program but normaly is: 'file
Unknown' or 'Can´t read file header' or 'No possible to open the file because
the segment of the marker jpeg is too short."

Can the files be opened on any PC that you have tried? If ALL PC report
the same problem you may want to have an expert try to recover the files.

I don't know if this would be any help or not ... I recently had a compact
flash card that I could not read and ALL the pictures of a friends wedding
were on that card. I was able to recover every one of the photos with a
recovery program from Stellar Phoenix. They give specific instructions on
how to recover files ... I don't know that this would work for your CD, but
it might be worth looking at:

Here is my issue I have two digital photo frames I know I can purchase memory
cards to have just for the frames I was wondering if anyone knew how I can
take the pictures already stored in my pictures and put them on memory card
so I can have them in my photo frame?

By installing a card reader on your PC. (Or connecting a printer that
has a card reader to your PC)
