Once again, Intel builds a CPU just for Apple

I can see how it's useful for someone that is on the road
constantly and doesn't need a luggable workstation. If all they
need is lightweight basic computing, it seems like a decent
choice. If you need to do heavy duty work on it, it's a boat
anchor.

Ultraportables have been around for many years, and most of them do not
compromise on functionality as much as this Macbook Air seems to. It has a
lot of disadvantages, and the main selling point of it being thin, is has no
appeal to me. It is still large. My Thinkpad X-Series laptops are much
smaller, if a bit thicker. They are more portable and have very long
battery life, and you can use them on airline seats, which they were
essentially designed for.

Jealousy is so ugly. I don't have an iPhone myself, having no
need for one, but I don't have any silly notions about ownership
of one implying any stereotypes for the owners.

Seriously, believe me: jealousy has nothing to do with it. Maybe it is just
me personal experience, but you should see the guys I have met/seen with one
around London.

How dense are you exactly? Thinnest, yes. But powerful?? You are totally

Hey moron. Making a smaller version of a many months old core architecture
is not some big "exclusive" deal. Maybe Intel could have made it a
different "exclusive" colour for you to make you wet your pants even more?
What about 'Bondi Blue'?

but only Apple was able to help Intel engineers in producing such a
small chip, thus they have exclusive rights to this chip until fall.

Have you even seen the Keynote where the Intel CEO bows to Steve Jobs?

Learn a little will you?

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/keynote/

Intel has to bend over backwards to Apple's demands or risk the loss of
the golden Apple account which they have spent nearly 30 years to win.

Apple controls Intel like a pure Puppet.

We all know that.
See if Macs have Penryn or Wolfdale cores before they are available to PC
builders and as parts for home builders. Try to think about things of
significance, okay?

Penryn doesn't seem feasible in it's current form factor. Only Apple can
help Intel make it successful, so we'll see it once Apple releases the
first version of this chip.

Otherwise, traditional PC vendors will be stuck with it.

I think you are Jealous of the MacBook Air. Have you even seen the
Keynote that was given? or the Guided Tour Video, much less touched one?

I've done them all.......

I think you are mad that you are now about 4 years behind the curve with
nobody on the PC side to help you out. You'll get a MacBook Air in due
time. You can bank on it.

Watch the Keynote, PLEASE... put yourself out of your misery.

you are just talking about simple mounting. not actually installing
software from another wireless Mac or PC. a chuckle for sure!

LOL what an idiot!! Yes, you can install software and everything, dumbo. A
networked optical drive acts no differently than a local one, retard, except
that it is usually slower (but probably not on wired gigabit network - not
benchmarked on mine).

This wireless Renote Disk offers nothing that could have been done since
wireless first came out, apart from being spoonfed to n00bs. Nothing new.
Can you understand this past the marketing spin that has blinded you. What
do you think you can do with this that you cannot so woth networked drives??

you were the one that didn't understand what Apple has done. I suggest
you learn about what Apple has just innovated. no other PC can do this.

http://www.apple.com/macbookair/guidedtour/

Much less wirelessly "migrate" all data from an older Mac to a MacBook
Air... wow!

http://www.apple.com/macbookair/wireless.html

Someday you'll catch up with what Apple is doing.

Are you new to computers? I really think you are. What is so amazing? You
do know that all this Macbook is, is a thin computer? The trackpad gestures
is the only thing that impressed me above anything I have seen before, when
I saw those videos a few days ago.

By the way, I was using Macs with System 7, and the first computer I ever
used was my father's Apple IIe clone, in the early 80's.

You're ignorance is amazing. All Thinkpads have had lights that light up
the keyboard for years. They are called ThinkLights. Having used
Powerbooks and Thinkpads, the more general light of the ThinkLight is
certainly more natural and easier, in my personal opinion.

And nobody that knows anything about laptops is going to back you up saying
that the typing quality of Macbook keyboards is anything as good as Thinkpad
keyboards, which are widely known to be the best. Seriously, just ask
anybody that actually has used them. Even Mac owners will tell you. I
really do not like the chiclet keyboards on recent VAIOs and Macbooks, and
Macbook Pro keyboards are not a lot better.

And the fact that you think that that an ultraportable like the Macbook Air
is especially powerful, is even more laughable.

Yup. My X30 still turns heads. I currently have Ubuntu on it but will
probably move to Debian Lenny soon.

Lovely little beasties the X series.

compromise on functionality as much as this Macbook Air seems to. It has a

Then don't buy one. Not every product from every vendor needs
to be ideal for you, or me, or anyone else in particular.
It is still large. My Thinkpad X-Series laptops are much
smaller, if a bit thicker. They are more portable and have very long
battery life, and you can use them on airline seats, which they were

I've a 15.4" notebook on airplanes quite comfortably. Just buy
a better ticket.
Seriously, believe me: jealousy has nothing to do with it. Maybe it is just
me personal experience, but you should see the guys I have met/seen with one

Dorks are everywhere, and you can find examples sitting in front
of, or carrying any gadget you can think of. Watching a bunch
of them in a restaurant together, not speaking to each other,
but spending the entire meal punching bullshit into their
blackberries simultaneously as the stuff food into their mouth
between thumbstrokes is hilarious and sad at the same time.

If Apple users would learn to touch-type, they wouldn't need a
light-up keyboard. ;-)

oh my god you are dumb!

i'm talking about the "individual keys" not the silly keyboard. anybody
can do that, but only Apple holds the patent to light up the "key".
Learn about technology would you?

no other vendor is allowed to do this:

ah, but the Apple Keyboards have passed ThinkPad key/feel about 6 years
ago, gosh, you still want to play dumb don't you...

ThinkPads keyboards are near the middle of the pack now, Apple at the
top since they actually work on building the best. Leveno has given up
against Apple.
And the fact that you think that that an ultraportable like the Macbook Air

Well, you must admit it's now the most powerful thin laptop, nobody
questions that.

Not seen that yet, but I don't have time right now. I don't see how

WATCH the KEYNOTE... it will help you in not looking SO DUMB!

it's really a decent peek in what PC users will begin to use in about 5
years...

never have seen a mac user hunt and peck, they are better educated than
most any computer user. i think you mean if mac users were "less

it's really amazing when you use it day to day.

pc users have no understanding of modern computing features, so they
