Hello:
I get this message on my Win XP when I boot up in windows.
No desktop icons appear. Any help is appreciated.

" This Application has failed to start because
OLEAUT32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application
may fix this problem."

you can search and extract it from the win xp cd if you have it. if you
bought your comp from a shop then hard luck.


once you've extracted the .dll files they go here:

c:\windows\system32
c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386

I can't get into windows to be able to replace the file.
I went in from another PC that is on the network and was
able to see the file. It is in there but I still couldn't
replace it.
It tells me that it is used by windows.
