Hi, everyone. I just got a friend to extract my old 20G hard drive from
my dead IBM Thinkpad so that I can use externally for my Sony Vaio
Laptop. He got a case and the two usb cables and hooked it up to my
computer. The IBM hd was running Windows ME and Windows XP on the Vaio.
When I connect the external hd to the laptop I get two drives
listed.....One for Windows ME and one for My Documents. I lnow that he
partioned them so that's not why I am writing. I am writing to ask "Is
the Windows ME OS affecting my Vaio? If so, how can I wipe that off so
I can use the space? Do I have to have an OS on that drive? If so, how
can I use my Vaio restore disks to do that?

Thanks.

Just delete what you don't want on the external drive.
