I don't know why but on my PC running XP PRO ntuser.dat isn't hidden. I
have checked to make sure all system files and operating system files
are hidden. Anyone have any ideas why this is so. TIA

Hi

Both 'Do not show hidden files and folders' & 'Hide protected operating
system files (Recommended)' are enabled?

I have worked out why ntuser.dat is showing up and not hidden. I
installed the Nero 6.6.0.6 updates to Nero 6.6.0.0 and Nero uses the
file type dat for its Media Player, so Nero has caused the problem here.
I don't know how to change the ntuser.dat back into a system file.
Anyone know how?
Regards

Your own
C:\documents and settings\you\ntuser.dat - your hive of the registry -
is not marked as a protected file or as hidden, and is normally visible.
