NTOSKRNL.EXE corrupted...

Hi there...

Earlier in the week...I got the error message above when
trying to boot up my PC. The error occurred after I had
multiple applications running & my computer froze up on
me...so I powered down & tried to reboot the computer.
Upon reboot...the error message above was encountered. I
searched the Windows site for information on how to fix
it...but the methods they listed didn't work for me. I
also tried using the hard drive as a slave on a different
pc as well as trying to use the Windows 2000 disk to
repair it...with no luck at all. The other PC indicates
that the hard drive isn't formatted & doesn't allow me to
view the files on it. Since I had just built this PC a
week or two ago...I had not gotten around to backing up
all of my data...so now I run the risk of losing a lot of
personal data (i.e., email, family photos, etc) if I can't
find a way to retrieve the data off the drive. If anyone
has any ideas on how I can approach this problem...please
let me know. If you need any additional
information...please let me know as well.

Thanks...

Hi Robert...

Up to this point, I have not been able to access any of
the files or directories on my hard drive at all. I
attempted using the Windows 2000 Recovery Console to see
if I could at least detect the directories...but was
unable to "see" any files. The drive is recognized by the
BIOS...and if I attempt to re-load Windows onto the hard
drive...there is a recognizeable partition there. The main
issue is that if I attempt to reload Windows on to the
hard drive, it asks for me to reformat the hard drive.

When I try accessing the drive as a slave on another
Windows 2000 PC...Windows indicates that the drive is not
formatted & asks if I wish to format it. I do have a PC
running Windows 98 which I could try to put the drive on
as a slave. I just figured it wouldn't work since I had
formatted the drive using NTFS. A friend of mine suggested
that I let him to try to access it using his Windows XP
machine.

As far as the age of the drive goes...it is about a month
old at most & it is the first install of any kind on the
drive.

Thanks...
