Plz Help!!!

Hello Everyone

My Laptop IBM ThinkPad X31 appears with a message saying “NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart” I don’t have an internal CD/DVD drive so I put a USB Removable Drive to reinstall windows XP but it does not detect the USB drive then I put a removable CD/DVD Drive but that did not work as well, AS it does not detect the CD/DVD drive. Can you please advice me on how I can reinstall my OS. I have setup up the BOIS to boot from the Removable USB Drive but it does not detect the USB drive and that option is not there same with the External CD/DVD drive. I used a bootable Windows XP CD and copied that on to the 1GB USB Removable drive. The XP CD is only 695 MB.

Please help!!!!!!!

I will very much appreciate your advice and help.

Thank you.

oops, a catch 22 situation

OK, first off, you cannot just copy the contents of a bootable CD to a USB boot drive, without first making the USB drive bootable.

Err, good English that ...

Sorry, see if these help ...

A word of warning ... I would pull the power & ribbon cable off my internal drive before attempting to make a USB boot drive ... I believe both links also have a similar warning/suggestion.

Good Luck :thumb:

oh, welcome to the forums. ;)

RE: Plz Help!!!

Recheck The Content Of Your Usb Drive.sometimes When You Copy Setup.exe It Just Creates A Shortcut....
-I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT SOME COMPUTERS WILL DO THIS IF THERE IS NONBOOTABLE MEDIA IN THE A: DRIVE.SIMPLY REMOVE THE MEDIA AND REBOOT.
