"Not responding"

Guest

XP has been running fine for three years. Now all of a
suddenly I am repeatedly having "hung up" problems in
which the system just freezes.
I have to hit control-alt-delete to get out of the
problem.
Even the X at top right corner will not end program.
Message I get is "This program is not responding."
This is all while on the Internet, never when using
software programs.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Go to Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options. Choose clear all files,
cookies and history. Also check in
C:\Windows\Prefetch folder and delete all files there. Check in
MyComputer>rt click on Drive Icon select Prop>
Disk Cleanup. Check all boxes and do a cleanup.
