not enough server storage error

When I try to connect to certain shares on my LAN between two machines
running XP Pro, I get an error message saying not enough server
storage available. Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?

The shares are defined using simple sharing and are the share name for
the volume that XP suggests. It does not seem to matter if read only
or read/write it enabled.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Are you running out of space on the server, or have you perhaps defined a
certain allocation of space per user that is reaching its limit?

I seem to recall that this is a Netbios over TCP/IP problem.

try this (usual registry editing cautions apply !!!)

You need to edit the registry to fix this.

The registry entry is:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]

You'll see a value called:

IRPstackSize

It will be set to some value between 4 - 12 (in decimal) usually. Edit the IRPstackSize
key and delete the numeric VALUE (not the key).
