not all screen savers are showing up in display properties list

I have a screen saver that I've used since Windows 3.1

This particular screen saver works in nearly every version of Windows that I
own EXCEPT XP.

In other versions of Windows it will show up in the screen saver list under
display properties > screen saver tab.

How come this is NOT so for Windows XP Home Edition ?

Is there a WAY to FIX this ?

Its really annoying as this is my fav screen saver )

Did you copy the screen saver (.scr) file into the Windows/system32 folder?

yes. i even right clicked on the file and selected "install"

Not all W3.2-98/ME screensavers will work on the NT kernel. (XP is based on
it). If you know the name of the screensaver, you might be able to do a
Google search and find a compatible XP version of it.

First tried it "C:\WINDOWS\" and "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32"

I find it is necessary to rt-click newly-dropped .scr (in SYSTEM32 for
NT, SYSTEM for Win9x) and choose "Install", before these light up as
available as screensavers. Unlike dropping fonts in Fonts.
