I just reformatted my partition and reinstalled Windows
XP on a rather new laptop (6 mos). I have a wireless
network but can't seem to get on it. I have great
strength on my Wireless network, and under network
connections, LAN is disabled and I have active the
Wireless and Net Adapter enabled with no firewall. I do
not, however, have Net Beui and it is not offered to me
when I try to install a protocol. Just MS IPv6 Developer
Edition and NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS compatible transport
protocol is listed.
I have the TCP/IP checked off and don't know what else to
try. And for some strange reason, my computer doesn't
list "My Network Places." Any ideas how to get this
running? Help!!! Thanks.

Candy,

be glad that you don't have NetBEUI as well. You already have
two transport protocols you probably don't want, and you don't
seem to have the one you want, namely TCP/IP.

It seems to me that something must have gone wrong when you
installed XP. In your place I would flatten the bad installation
and install once more, this time with the proper protocols that
are usually installed automatically. Unless you have special
requirements, the only transport protocol you need is TCP/IP,
not IPv6.
