No System Restore after uninstalling Norton Antivirus 2007

My system has Norton Antivirus 2007 and ZoneAlarm Pro version 6.5.737.000. I
needed to restore my system so I turned off Norton Antivirus and ZoneAlarm.
I got a message saying that System Restore was unable to restore. I then
uninstalled Norton Antivirus using the Norton Uninstall Tool. I used
Registry Mechanic to clean the registry of any last traces of Norton
Antivirus. I then tried to restore with ZoneAlarm shutdown, and got the same
message.

I am lost as to what to try next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can you start System Restore from Start->Programs->Accessories->System
Tools->System Restore or from Start->Run-> type
"%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" without the quotes and hit ENTER ?

You try System Restore and then it informs you that it was unsuccessful ,
right ?
If so , there will be no way to restore from that point , of course , you
can try older one . Then , empty your restore points to remove the corrupted
ones

Right click on My Computer->Properties->System Restore
Check Turn off system restore and Click OK ; now do the same but uncheck
"Turn off..."
