No Search Assistant in Search

Recently noticed the "Search Assistant" in Search
has disappeared and Search window looks different
from way was originally - just black & white text.
Search function still works ok.

Unsure when this changed and have googled for fixes.
Tried few and none work. Any suggestions as to how
to restore this to way was with the Search Assistant
would be appreciated. WinXP Pro SP2 with all latest
MS updates and software installed.

Disable Classic Search
.... Click Start > Run
.... Type regedit > Press Enter
.... Open this key :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState
.... In right side, double click "Use Search Asst"
.... Change it to "yes" (Without quotes)

If you have Tweak UI
.... Open it
.... CLick Explorer
.... Right side, Scroll down and Uncheck "Use classic search in explorer"

Tx for reply. Classic search already disabled under
Explorer in TweakUI.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState

No "Use Search Asst" item on right-side of above key

Any Other ideas?

Consider using Agent Ransack instead. Faster and free.

If that value doesn't exist in Registry and Classic Search is turned off
in tweakui, that means Classic Search is OFF but the things you told
believes me that CLassic Search is ON. So confirm it.

No - exactly what mine looks like.

Checked again and Classic Search unticked in TweakUI.
Added value "Use Search Asst" in registry using tweak from Kelly's
Korner and changed to *yes*.

Didn't make any difference and Search still shows as in your above link.

Am continuing to troubleshoot via links suggested in other replies.

Tx for reply. No luck with Kelly's Korner fixes.

Came across following: -
http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=702356&SiteID=2

While ago, had installed & then uninstalled Windows Live OneCare and wonder
if this
is cause of Search problem.

Tried following suggestions in posts from above link.

http://www.tweakxp.com/article37259.aspx
Didn't work.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...73-259a-4a1b-93a4-f02c21bcb15a&DisplayLang=en
When downloaded and ran, get message "Setup has detected Service Pack
version newer
than update, blah, blah, blah, and can only be installed with no service
packs installed.
So can't try this.

Any other suggestions before consider leaving Search as is until time for
another format?
