No Ads showing up in IE 6

Not that I enjoy seeing ads but it makes me wonder if I have a bigger
problem. It appears all ads are being blocked somehow.

The below message appears instead:

Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page
might be temporarily unavailable.

Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

Hi,
These ads (sites) are probably being blocked by a HOSTS file. Programs such
as Spysweeper use a hosts file. Some malware programs use the hosts file
(probably not in your case.) A hosts file can also be downloaded from
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm and other sites.

To check the HOSTS file in Windows 2000...
Make sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is
not hiding file extensions for known file types then check for a HOSTS file
at [C:\Winnt\System32\Drivers\etc] Open the HOSTS file with notepad. If
there are entries you wish to disable, you can put the pound sign (#) in
front an entry to disable it. Then File> Save. Or you can rename the HOSTS
file to HOSTS.OLD to disable it.
More on the HOSTS file at http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm and
http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/

Hope this helps,
Don
