Hi All!
Background:
I am working on an automatic tester under Win-XP platform, during the test
I'm changing the NIC card properties back and forth from 10M halfduplex to
100M fullduplex, I need to stop the auto tester and perform the change in
the card "Properties" menu manually.

I am looking for a program that can change the NIC card properties (as
described above) without the need for manual interaction.
For the auto tester I am using TCL script language.

As this configuration is so easy to get at I have never
seen a configuration tool for these settings. With DSL the
only time you would ever need to change the configuration
is if you have some graphics difficulties. On the rare
occassion the auto-detect feature may cause some
flickering. It is safe to say that in today's environment
100Base T x Full Duplex is a good setting. If you are
trying to tweak your connection then unfortunately under
XP it is not configured for max throughput and the
settings are hidden in the registry. Things like your
window buffer(MaxWindowSize) SackOpts.Black hole detect.
TTL. and so on can be found here.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TcpIp\
Parameters. Then once you click to highlight Parameters
you can configure the settings in the right panel. The
best free tool to set these configurations to the best
optimization for max throughput is SpeedXP. I tested this
and not only did it set the configuration to the optimal
settings that I had configured in the registry but it gave
me one extra one that I hadn't thought about and my
storage speeds went from 134 KB\sec to 174KB\sec. A
significant jump. I had already achieved 170KB\sec myself
so the extra setting only helped 4KB\sec. Any improvement
is good though. e:mail me if you have any other questions.
I only visit these NGs on the odd occassion. Keep smiling.
