Newsgroup message display

In Outlook Express, when I go to a newsgroup and it gets the new postings,
no message is selected to be displayed in the Preview pane. In WinMail, it
selects a message and displays the message in the Preview pane. Is there a
way to make WinMail not display a message in the preview pane until I select
one? There are some pretty crazy posters on newsgroup sites and I would not
like to display their message.

I know I can remove the preview pane, but I don't want to have to do that
unless it is my only option.

That behaviour is by design sadly, we asked many times during the beta
testing of WM for what you ask now, to no avail.

Thanks for answering. Obviously it isn't a calamity but it makes you wonder
why some things get changed.
