newdot2.dll

I just ran the antispyware scanner and removed a search
bar tool called newdot. Now, whenever I reboot, I get an
error message that says:
"RUNDLL - Error loading C:\PROGRA-1\NEWDOT 2.DLL. The
specified module could not be found."
How can I get rid of this error message, and should I
have removed the search bar tool in the first place?

You might be able to clean this up using HijackThis, which
is a free download...

Or, just search through the registry for newdot2.dll and
delete any reference to it.

Go to http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/Darnit.htm
Click N and then click New.net or NewDOTNet.

I had the same issue. I just unchecked it from start up
in the system configuration utility. The error did not
show up again.

Good point!
(I'd never looked to see that was possible.)

I don't know whether the residual entry would be listed even though the file
was gone, but it probably would be--that's easier and better than using
MSCONFIG.
