NewDotNet (Browser Plug In)

Just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this.
I downloaded MSAS and ran a scan immediately. Upon
completion, it gave me about 6 particular threats, a
couple of which were recommeded to be IGNORED. However, i
removed them all, and now when i boot up, I get this
error message:
'Error loading c:\progra~1\newdot~1\newdot~2.dll - 'The
specified module cannot be found'.
The same file still appears when i scan each time, what
do i do to stop this error message appearing???

Thanks in advance!

One way to fix this error, according to reports here, is to simply scan
again with Microsoft Antispyware. It will find this harmless but annoying
remnant, and fix it.

Check add/remove screen for newdotnet and remove if found

DO NOT simply delete the DLL, as it tampers with the
default Winsock settings and manual removal may cause you
to lose Internet access.

Try this unistaller from newdotnet:

http://www.new.net/support/uninstall6_76.exe

With the unistaller it also says(NOTE:
THIS FILE IS NOT TO BE DISTRIBUTED, MIRRORED, OR LINKED
WITHOUT THE EXPRESSED WRITTEN CONSENT OF NEW.NET. )

which is a great sign it works :)

Also check there site for removal instructions:

http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html

Its probably a good thing that MS Antispy doesnt remove
this unless it can rebuld the Winsock stacks after
removal if it cannot your internet connection will be
broken.

Heres some info on Newdotnet:

http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm

Before removing this with any other scanners download
LSPfix incase your connection drops (you only need this
if you do not have windows xp with service pack 2 )

if you don't have WinXP SP2, get LSP-Fix - a free program
to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks

http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip

If you have windows XP with Service Pack 2 copy this to
notepad and save it incase you need it later (you only
need this of you lose your internet connection)

Windows XP ServicePack 2

To resolve this problem if you are running Microsoft
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), follow these steps:

Rebuild the Winsock LSP chain. Log on as an
administrator.

Click Start, click Run, type

cmd

and then click OK.

At the command prompt, type the following, and then press
ENTER:

netsh Winsock reset

When the program is finished, you will receive the
following message:
Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog. You must restart
the machine in order to complete the reset.

Other LSP Fix programs

Winsock2Fix

unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

Thanks Bill,Maybe i read the question wrong

If MS Antispy has already removed evrything connected to
this then it will probably be picking up a reg entry run
command for newdot~2.dll .

following Bill's advise will probably remove anything
thats leftover from newnet

Actually--what I found interesting about this post was that newdotnet has
already been removed, on the evidence of the message--but the poster did not
mention losing Internet connectivity.

I don't think this issue has been fixed yet, but we all have hopes that it
will be improved at least, in beta2.

Yeah i'm suprised it wasnt mentioned in their post but
hopefully its not affected them in that way or maybe MS
Antispy has addressed that problem,Im not using the
scanner so im not sure how often its being updated,

I'd download the beta2 when it's released its just i've
got alot of protection products so adding MS is abit
overkill really,Ive used it in the past and it looks
great so im interested in using it again when beta 2 is
released.
