New window is wrong size

Terry

When I click on a link that opens in a new window, the window is a reduced
size. The original windows always open full screen, but I can't seem to
find the setting to get the new window to open full screen. Any
suggestions?

Hi Terry :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Courtesy of Alan Edwards -

Try stretching the small window to full size. (Do not use Maximize)
Ensure that window is the last one closed and IE should remember the
size next time.

also....

Courtesy of Jim Byrd -

"Close all windows EXCEPT the one that opens "minimized"; right click on
your Task Bar, either on the open space on the right or left end (your
choice); select "Tile Windows Horizontally" and IE will maximize; close IE.
Re-open IE and it will be maximized. Just showed a buddy this trick
yesterday and works like a charm. Enjoy."

It does work like a charm, but it isn't quite a normal "maximize" just a
full screen with a border. However, it does subsequently hold that.

There's also AutoSizer, free, here:

The X tends to be a forced termination in IE and may not save the last
window size, where File, Close causes IE to save the last window size to the
Registry

Tried stretching, tried maximizing, tried making the smaller window close
last, But alas, no luck. Seems the new popup window has a hidden setting.
And it is not with just one web site.

Hi Terry :)
Tried stretching, tried maximizing, tried making the smaller window close
last, But alas, no luck. Seems the new popup window has a hidden setting.
And it is not with just one web site.

IE remembers the size of the last secondary window closed and uses that for
all future secondary windows...so long as you don't resize it using the
Maximize button which is a temporary setting and won't be retained. And
don't close it by using the X in the upper right corner of rhe window. You
must go to the toolbar and use the File>Exit

Hre are the steps for forcing all secondary windows to open maximized:
1. Open IE, go to a page with links
2. Open a link in a new window
3. Grab the corners/edges of the secondary window and drag it to the size
and placement you want, do not use the maximize button
4. Close the original window - important step, don't overlook it!
5. Close the window you just resized

All future IE secondary windows will open using the size and placement of
the window you closed in step 5.

OK - I tried that twice. Once I closed using File/Close and once by clicking
on the bar at the bottom of the screen. Neither worked. Seems like I had
this problem a year or two ago and it had to do with a setting on the IE
options.

Thanks for trying to help. I'll check the other links when I get some more
time.
