IE6 will not open my new web site - my Hosting Service homepage opens
instead. The Hosting Service was able to open the site in their browser and
also it will open on other computers. I can FTP to the site. While it may
look like a DNS issue, the hosting service checked that and says I have a
browser problem. I cleared cache and checked the HOST file. I run XP Pro.Can
any one help?

mmm. Had a similar problem.. would navigate to a site and just see a blank
page.. but when I viewed the source (View/Source) it was the html of the
page.
Do a tracert and check how many jumps are being made to route to the server
hosting the site. If you don't know how to do a tracert there is a web site
www.tracert.com that can do them for you from different locations in the
world, or ask one of your network guys at work.
My problem site was making 30 jumps between Sydney and Washington (and that
was for a dot.au domain) also it was taking nearly 250 milliseconds at each
jump to be resolved... this is close to the limit at which the router will
give up. Turned out that the site which was owned by an Australian Company
was being hosted on a server in Washington. The Hosting company was
Australian too, so I am not sure what was going on here(wholesale/retail
deals I think). The domain registar was Barbados based... tax lerk?

Oh I see that youre Australian...and this is your website.... could this be
a certain Western Australian ISP...same as mine? They route to the States
via a satelite over the Indian Ocean (the long way). A friend has told me
that you should allow for 500mls for each 3000 miles that your reques has to
travel. Ask your hosting company where in the world your server is!
mmm seems to be a few .au's going off shore.. the new economy.

Anyway things seem to have fixed themselves up. I can now view the web site
like it was being hosted next door but complaining to the hosting company in
this instance will help speed things up.

mmm. I like your site jum.... nice and tidy... not clutteed
