New user question: Can't open pic files

J

Jay

I am using Powerpoint 2003 with SP1 installed and have acquired image files,
first in both jpeg and then bmp formats. These images will not open in
Powerpoint but open perfectly in all other programs (Word, Photoshop,
Picassa and other very basic products).

I have no antivirus programs running and have unrestricted access. The
message I get is:

Powerpoint cannot open the file represented by..................

I have copied these files to other drive locations with the same result.

Any thoughts on what might be happening would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jay

Yup. PowerPoint doesn't open image files .. instead, choose Insert, Picture,
From File and bring in your pictures that way.

Use File, Open to open PowerPoint files.
