Can't open PPT File

I have 2 .ppt files (created in May 2006) that I am trying to open. However,
I was getting the message " PowerPoint can't open the type of file
represented by[location/file name].

I have tried all the methods that is in the Microsoft help page but still of
no help. Tried the demo recovery and repair softwares and still not able to
open the file. Some software were giving the message the header is missing.

However, now when I attempt to open the file, the ealier message does not
appear anymore but it is opening a blank presentation. The file size is 2MB.

1 important finding is that when I right click on the file --> Properties
--> Summary, all the Description and Origin columns are empty. For a ppt file
that I am able to open, these columns will have values in it.

Try downloading Impress, the presentation package from Open Office.
http://www.openoffice.org

It will sometimes open files that PPT considers corrupt.

If you're trying to open the file in PPT 2003, make sure you have at least
Service Pack 1 installed. Service Pack 2 would be okay, also. If you go to
Help | About in PPT, you can see the version listed -- look for SP1 or SP2
on the end. If you don't have one of those, go to Help | Check for Updates
and install the latest service pack for Office 2003.
