new problems

Mixed network win 98 win 2000
Router linksys

Loses lease and
sets to 162.254.?.?have to reset with ipconfig renew. 192.168.?.?

I lose internet or intranet or both.

On win 2000 machine
win 98 no problem

Have reset network id
tried device manager took off network adapters
then rebooot found same worked on win 2000 machine
lost intranet on win 98 machine

Help on admin,computer managment, services, what to look for what does what
Any other help this started after year of service running correctly

Hello,

From what you say it appears that a manual release/renew seems to work.

Is the DHCP server on the same subnet as the problem clients? Any messages
in the client event logs (such as messages talking about not being able to
renew or register an address)?

Any messages in the DHCP server event log (assuming that it is a Microsoft
system)?
