New Printer Hardware Wizard wont stop!!

Hi,
Every time I boot up I get the New Printer Hardware Wizard
appearing. It does it twice every time without fail.
I did not have a printer connected when I upgraded my
system from Win 98 SE to Win XP Pro SP1.
It doesn't seem to recognize the windows printer drivers
or the HP printer drivers. I want to get my printer
attached and working, but I want to get rid of this
problem first.
My printer is a HP DeskJet 940c.

I recently re-installed Windows XP so I could activate it
properly. Before then the printer was not recognised and
the drivers were not found..ever.

Even though you did not have a printer connected while doing the 98 to XP
upgrade, you may have had printer drivers installed, which can cause these
kinds of problems.

I've already tried the solution there, and I've tried
downloading and installing the drivers frsh from HP. and
I've tried cleaning out any trace of previous
installations of printer drivers.
I am using USB plug and play for the printer.

I tried that yesterday. Still get the wizard popping up
twice every time I boot up.
