After recently installing WIN XP HOME, I installed an Epson printer.
All went well, and the printer operates flawlessly.

Now, eveytime I boot, I get the dreaded, "New Hardware Wizard" which I
have to close before I continue. No big deal, but it's just annoying
to have to do it everytime I boot.

You have a multi-function printer and did not install the software for "all"
of the functions. When the hardware wizard shows up, insert the CD and allow
the wizard to search the CD for what it wants. When everything is properly
installed, you "will not" see the message again!

See if Epson has updated drivers available for the printer. You
didn't say whether you used the Epson install disk or let XP install
the printer. The new hardware wizard appears because XP "sees" the
Epson as new hardware each time you boot. That usually occurs
because of drivers or the proper install procedure was not followed.

You might want to uninstall the printer and drivers and re-install it
again. Be sure to follow Epson's directions, ie: USB cable plugged
in and printer turned on before installing drivers, etc.

function, Epson 580, a cheapie. But your suggestion was very sound and
I shall follow it. Maybe there are sone modules missing from the
drivers and a re-run would solve it. Thanks again! Mike
