new compacting messages message!

Yes, you do. You weren't shown how to, that's all.
Tools > Options > Advanced , look down, near the bottom, click Maintenance

tI have recently started getting "WINDOWS MAIL CAN COMPACT THE MESSAGE STORE.
THIS MAY TAKE UP TO A FEW MINUTES" so farI have just clicked CANCEL, is
this okay to do? If so how do I stop this message appearing?

I found that after I emptied my Deleted files folder I still got the "compact
message store" notice so guess just emptying doesn't get rid of the pop-up
box. I wasn't sure whether to trust it or not which is why I joined this
group.
