Mark,

A few, hopefully quick questions. I believe that it is safe to assume you
have been reinstalling Windows XP Home or Pro, considering where you have
posted. Is this true?

What hardware do you have?

What is the speed of your CPU? If you don't have something over 500 mhz, it
may be time for an upgrade, to a 1+ Ghz CPU and a new motherboard.

How much RAM do you have? You might be able to install Windows XP with 64
mb, but I wouldn't use it with less than 256 mb.

How large is your hard drive? How much free space is there remaining?

How exactly are you "reformatting" the computer? What steps are you taking?

What, if any, software have you installed after reformatting the computer,
besides Microsoft Windows?

What type of internet connection are you using? (This is not really that
important, but could affect your ability to download new drivers.)

Have you changed any of the settings on Windows XP, or did you perform a
default install?

Is the computer in general slow, or are the only problems that you have
noticed with the computers ability to hibernate and smoothly scroll web pages?

How much time has past between the three times you reformatted the computer?
Do these problems arise immediately or take time to start taking place?

I hope that you will take the time to answer at least some of these
questions, because right now I cannot do suggest any ideas with out knowing
your particular computer setup.
