Networking Win2K Pro to WinXP Pro?

T

Tony

I've got a Windows 2000 Pro computer and a Windows XP Pro computer, both connected to a
NetGear hub.

I want to be able to share files between them but this isn't as easy as Windows98.

Please, how do I configure these two computers together to share files?

Thanks,

Tony

2 easy ways, one is to just enable the Guest Account on each pc, that
way no names or passwords are needed to get to the pc when networking
them. The 2nd way is to create exactly the same name and password
accounts on each pc, then when you are on one pc and try to get to the
other one it wil lrecognize you. The one other thing you need to do is
make sure they are i nthe same Workgroup. This is done thru right
clicking my computer, left click properties, then lect click the
Computer Name tab, then click the Change button. Make sure both are
IDENTICAL, caps don't matter but puncuation DOES!!!! Make sure you
have gone in to My Computer, double click this time, and right clicked
each drive you want to share, on all machines, and then clicked on
Share this drive in the drop down box. Just say yes to all the
questions, give it a name, I usually just use the the drive letter as
the name, and after saying yes to all the are you sure stuff, restart
both and you should be good to go.
