Networking & User issues

Although I realize that these might not be in the right place I was hoping
that someone might have something new to suggest since I have posted each one
separately and the two combined in the relavent places in the last couple of
weeks...

1) Recently my Dimension 4500 computer was not downloading or installing
Windows Updates and in the process of finally finding the solution (which
appeared to involve adding BITS to the registry at SvcHost) I have apparently
messed up my daughter’s and my son’s access to my computer. I use Windows XP
Home Edition and both of these accounts are limited access logons.
Even if I use Start->Run "control userpasswords2" and reset their passwords
to new passwords we all know (or none at all), they still cannot logon. The
computer always responds with the message "Did you forget your password?".
If I make their accounts administrator accounts everything is OK again. The
only other thing I was doing prior to all this (as far as I can recall, was
making changes to "msconfig", but I do not believe anything could have been
left in a state to do this if in the "General" tab the "Normal Startup" radio
button is checked - or am I mistaken?). I have also been trying to setup a
network as described below.

2) I want to setup my two computers on a home network on a wireless link
(mostly so I can use a printer on a single computer, on a local network and
print from one computer via the network to the other), but I bought a router
so I don't want to use
ICS if I can help it. As far as I can tell this can be done, but so far I
have been unable to achieve it. I believe I have the necessary hardware (a
Cable Modem, a Wireless Router, and a Wireless Card in each PC). I have setup
a workgroup which each computer appears to be a member of (under system
information computer name etc.). I am able to ping each one from the other
and I am able to ping the gateway. Each computer is able to ping itself using
localhost and the ip address 127.0.0.1. However, I can only browse from one
computer to the other but not the other way around. I can connect to the
internet from both PCs without any problem.

If you can offer any help it would be appreciated

An increasingly frustrated,

For the networking issue, your probably need to enable the guest
account on the computer that is not accessible over the network.

I did read that somewhere - but the Dimension E510 computer, which I can
browse, does not have the guest account enabled either. Any other ideas?
