I have 3 compurters in my office, recently i upgraded one of these computers
to Windows XP the other 2 are still on Windows 98 SE.
One of the Windows 98 machines "Old-Corner" can access the two other
machines, however the windows XP PC "John" cannot access one of the Windows
98 machines "Back-Office" and vice-versa. i.e it cannot access the Windows XP
Machine.
All PC's have specified IP Addresses in the "192.168.20.xxx" range and all
are on the same subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, these details cannot be changed
for one of the programs i am running however i am sure this is not the
problem.
I am able to ping the computers thru the command prompt and they are able to
communicate but through Network Neighbourhood/My Network places, on the two
computers they refuse to allow eachother in. The same applies when i try to
type in the individual IP addresses of the computers to access them
"\\192.168.20.xxx\c" this refuses and says could not be found.
Does anyone have any idea's as to how to fix this problem as i am stumped at
the moment.
