By default, Windows XP blocks networked access to the Program Files
and Windows folders. I think that's to prevent users from
accidentally deleting or modifying Windows system files. Be very
careful when you do it.

To remove those restrictions, disable simple file sharing in XP Pro:

1. Open My Computer and click Tools | Folder Options | View.
2. Scroll to the end of the advanced settings.
3. Un-check "Use simple file sharing (recommended)".

Un-share and then re-share all shared disks and folders on XP Pro
after disabling simple file sharing. Make sure that the share
permissions give full control to the Everyone group.

Create matching user names on both computers -- same user name and
password.
