Network printer appers offline when it isn't

Hi all,
this is probably common problem. I have a network of 5 PC's and one
Network printer. By network I mean it has its own IP address - it is NOT
connected to a machine (though it was at one time). I haven't tried
uninstalling the drivers.
fairly frequently the printer icon in control panel will display
offline - eventhough the printer is not. I can access the printer
configuration pages through its http port. I can also access its
configuration through its taskbar item. So it is there. I end up having to
delete the printer and then add it - which is becoming tedious.
I have 4 PCs on XP Pro, 1 Vista
1 Samsung ML-3561ND printer

Any tips what might be going on. Should I uninstall the drivers and
re-install on all the PC's? Thanks.

Salik.

What type of Network port are you using?. If this is the Standard TCP/IP
Port , is SNMP enabled? If it is go ahead and disable, the device may not
support complete SNMP printer information.

The printer is fully SNMP as far as I can tell. I can use my SNMP software
to read its status etc..
But I will try your suggestion. Anyway, for the past three days it hasn't
been a problem.
