Network Mapping help

Hi everyone and thank you in adnace for any and all info you might
provide.

I have just started a new position in a small company and I need to
draw up a current network map. I'd like to examine what they have in
place now and redesign the setup to be more efficient and logical.
Right now they have 20 - 30 PCs running anything from XPHome to
WIN2000. They are located in different buildings locally and soon
different cities. The users are used to saving to so many different
places that it is hard, if not impossible, to locate random files on an
as needed basis.

Can anyone out there recommend mapping software which would capture IP
addresses, PC names, etc. along with a diagramming option? Any advice
how to most efficiently create these items will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Jarbacky

There are many commercial network mapping products, some you can get trial
versions and licenses. If you want a product that will do automatic computer
discovery, on different subnets, try (odd name but...) The Dude. It's got
diagramming, and mapping, possibilities.
