Network Cable Unplugged after Windows 2000 Upgrade

Brad

I recently upgraded to Windows 2000 from Windows 98.

I have a Davicom 9102A Network card with an Arris Cable
Modem.

After the upgrade I have been getting a "Network Cable
Unplugged" error popping up every now again.

Most of the time, I can connect to the internet without
any troubles. Then every so often I get this error
message and I will get disconnected from my Instant
Messanger or my connection with otherwise be disrupted.

I have updated my Network card driver.
I have spoken with my Cable company.
Is there an issue in Windows 2000 that can cause this?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I also have the same issue. I upgraded from Win98 but kept
the FAT file system instead of converting to NTFS. The
machine runs a network of 8 computers using Win98 through
a Linksys router. I get the "Network Cable Unplugged"
error intermittently with no relation to seemingly any one
process. It is totally random it appears. It will go days
and days without happening, then happen all day for a day.
The router and cable have been tested, and they seem to be
OK. I obviously lose my network connection on all of the
other machines when this happens. Any thoughts would be
appreciated. Thanks!
