I have a broadband Netgear router. Windows Xp and IE . and Windows Media and
IE on the laptop. Do not have the media card in (could that be it ?)
I only have my base HP computer and my new HP laptop.
When I did the netgear installation I could get online with the base and the
laptop. Then the next day the laptop could not find a interent connection.
I ran the wireless internet wizard and it found the router and said the
signal was strong. But still would not open IE or ebay as can not find
internet connection.
I have disabled windows firewall and disabled norton internet security .
but that wasn't it.
My computer uses DHCP with " static" DNS" to connect to interent.
I have my primary and secondary DNS addresss'es
So what do I do. I have always found when no one seems to be able to help me
I can come to newsgroups and there is my answer.
Thanks for being here .

Betty,

Having both Norton and Windows firewalls CAN cause problems, even with Norton
"disabled". That's one possibility.

Let's look at the output from "ipconfig /all",to start. Read this article, and
linked articles, and follow instructions as precisely as possible.

Has this computer ever connected successfully? How are you writing here?
