Problem communicating with Netgear router

B

Bobby

Hi folks,
I wonder if you could help me with a problem. I have a Netgear DG632
router which I can't seem to commnuicate with.

If I plug my laptop into it and do an ipconfig /all, it assigns the
laptop an IP address and tells me that the Gateway is 192.168.0.1,
which is what I expected. However, if I go to internet explorer and
type in http://192.168.0.1 I just get a page cannot be displayed
message.

I've tried reseting the router, but still get the same problem.

Anybody got any ideas about how I can talk to my router?
Thanks a lot
Colin

Hi - I replied to your identical post in the SBS group. Please don't
multipost - if you need to post to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost
instead, by posting a single message to a handful of relevant groups
(separate the NG names with commas) so that everyone can follow the thread.
Thanks :)

Can you ping 192.168.0.1?

Hi
It was you who told me I had posted to the wrong newsgroup when I
posted to SBS. I apologised and said I would try this newsgroup
instead. Why would I want to include the wrong newsgroup in a
crosspost?

Not sure the same case, but you may try to add the router to the trust site. this post may help,

XP can't access the router using IEXP can't access the router using IE .... My Windows XP PC does not permit a Netgear router set up. It does not accept my username&password. ...

Hi,
Yes I can ping it. The laptop can definately the router, because it is
assigned an IP address by the router.

Hi - sorry, I think I must have presumed that you'd posted this at the same
time ... my apologies. I did, however, mention something about assuming your
DHCP server IP address was actually your Netgear LAN IP address in that
other reply... is it?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I've temporarily lost my laptop, so it might be
tomorrow before I can get back to you, with this information.
