need help with going form 2000xp professional to 2000

I can no longer suffer the quirks of XP 2000
Professional and want to install Windows 2000. When I
insert and run the Windows 2000 installation disk I get
a message from XP that says " ...found an updated version
of windows on your computer. Set up functionality has
been disabled". My computer is therefore not able to run
any of the installation data. Have tried add/remove
programs: same message. Can anyone tell me how to
disable what ever XP is doing so my computer can read
from the installion disk?

You can't do a 'downgrade' in place. Back up your data, and boot from the
W2k CD. Delete the partition(s) you wish - create new ones and install away.
You'll need to restore your data and reinstall all your applications, run
Windows Update, etc etc etc....

Just out of curiosity, what makes you dissatisfied with XP Pro? (there's no
XP 2000 Pro)....it's essentially the same OS as W2k but with more bells&
whistles - and you can easily turn off the 'teletubbies' interface and use
Classic Mode for display. I'm personally very pleased with XP and wouldn't
go back to 2k.

Windows XP Professional there is Windows XP 2000 Professional there ain't. Might be best just to get a different harddrive and install XP on it.

Well, the default wallpaper sure reminds me of time spent with my friends'
two year old! Another fave: Fisher Price GUI... ;-)
