Need help de-associate tif type from image document to irfanview

I need help with de-associate *.TIF from its default image document file type
and re-associate it with another file type in internet explorer environment.
I did it successfully from the
Contral panel --> folder options --> file type and the correct application
opens when double-clicking a TIF in Windows Explorer, but when I go back to
open a
tif file in a website it always goes back to the default --> image document.
Please help me with it. Here are some lines I got from the ftype command:

IrfanView="C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" "%1"
IrfanView.tif="C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" "%1
TIFImage.Document="C:\Program Files\Windows
NT\Accessories\ImageVue\Kodakimg.exe" "%1"

Someone from another discussion group suggested that I might have
some plug-in that is diverting the open action and directed me to this
group. Please help me if you can. Thank you.

A common snagger of the .tif/.tiff file type in IE is the QuickTime plug-in.
Do you have QT installed? If so, then go to Tools...Manage Add-ons, change
the Show: drop-down menu to "Add-ons that have been used by IE", select the
"QuickTime Object" entry and disable it.
