My PowerPoint presentation ran away with me!

Can someone explain why the presentation I was giving in front of 100 people
this week suddenly started whizzing through slides at high speed and then
reversing back through slides, instead of waiting for the mouse click? I
ended up having to close the presentation and starting again! I am using a
new mouse - Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000. Could it be
this?

Did you use a fresh battery for your mouse? I have seen weird things happen,
if the battery is nearly discharged ... Additionally, make sure that you
have installed the latest driver (do not use the one on the CD, download it
from the Microsoft site).
