Powerpoint Won't stop slideshow

Hi,

I have a laptop here and when I load up a powerpoint presentation in PP
2003, and load slideshow, the slides just whizz past as though the arrow
key/page up is held down. There are no stuck keys but the slide show just
won't stop.

In design mode, the slides are fully zoomed in and if i change the zoom to
less than 100% it just won't let me. All during this is the mouse cursor
that is flickering as though there is a stuck key.

I have checked the keys and there are no stuck ones.

The problem goes away after a reboot but returns soon after (close and then
open a PPT)

I am thinking a repair build might help. Has anyone else experienced this
problem?

Powerpoint does few a strange things from time to time.

Is it just one presentation or any presentation?
Have you checked that slide transitions aren't set to automatically after 0
sec?
Have you checked Slide Show Setup, advance slides manually.

I have similar issue with edit mode when there are lots of layers and
transparent objects taking a long time to draw (flicking as it builds the
slide). Could try turning down hardware acceleration in your Display
Porperties.

Resize zoom. Make sure you have clicked on the right side (not the thumbnail
section of the screen) before you go to zoom - if you have the Resize to Fit
ioption then your in the right place, else zoom just changes the size of the
thumbnails.

I'd echo the recommendation to change your hardware acceleration. Here are

You may also need to update your video drivers.

And this will sound weird, but make sure your mouse drivers are up-to-date
and if you're using a wireless mouse, try replacing the battery.
