"My Documents"

Dwight

I am the only user of my computer. The "my documents"
folder appears in two places - 1)directly under "Desktop"
and 2)under Local Disk (C), Documents & Settings, (my
name), my documents. While the two folders are ALMOST
identical in content, they are NOT 100% identical. Why
are there two such folders, and how can I safely get rid
of one of them? Thanks!

The second is not actually a folder, rather it is a shortcut to the contents
of the actual folder. As to why they aren't identical, it's possible a
shortcut to the missing items couldn't be created or they are nested in a
way that one shortcut for something else actually brings you to the items
that appear to be missing.
