My Boot Disk available here ...

I will leave this in place through July (at least), but will take it
down after that time since I need the space to work on webpages.

My bootdisk is just another, like many others available online at
www.bootdisk.com . But ... the difference, the difference.

The differences are multiple, however:

1. DR DOS 7.03 is used as the base OS.
2. Like other OS choices, this one also recognizes Fat-32 architecture.
3. My bootdisk includes support for recognition of all your internal
CDROMs,
and all your harddrive partition letters ... AND access recognition to
my external USB harddrive.
4. My bootdisk includes support for PRINTING to my parallel port LPT1 in
real DOS. Like most others, my Epson Stylus C84 is supposed to be a
Windows-only printer ... but I am using it in REAL DOS with this
bootdisk.
5. I have included a grand assortment of other files to aid the user as
needed.
Apart from some normal DRDOS files, I am including:
A RamDisk program to make a virtual drive of whatever size with
assignable letter.
A Print program that will send stuff to the printer without redirection
symbols.
A nuclear-powered delete program that takes no prisoners. CAUTION ! ! !
Support for color text and background (permanent until reboot).
A tiny, tiny file manager for copy, move, del, rename, attrib, etc
A disk map to show size of directories (reflecting the files inside)
A floppy disk image maker. (That made this file)
A powerful wildcard FIND program that works.
Minimal PKZip and PKUnzJr support
A powerful wildcard string search program to examine one file or whole
drives
The nifty little SWEEP program to augment DOS commands over the entire
drive.
Probably the world's micro-smallest text editor .. having pretty good
functions. -3K!!
Would appreciate comments, especially those with suggestions for making
smaller,
or including other nuclear-powered files of gotta-have-it usage.

Disclaimer: I cannot and will not be responsible for any misuse of
this image file,
nor for any damage you incur. If you don't wanna try it, don't. End of
story.

Yeah. And then : the exe can't be executed in Windows : do I have to try it
in dos mode ?
Thanks !

Wow ... I didn't realize that there were some that did not know what
a Boot Disk was. Sorry. Did you ever consider what use would a
Boot Disk be in Windows? All Boot Disks are, by nature, DOS animals.

Yes .. from DOS, execute the file .. making sure you have a ready floppy
in your floppy drive. The resultant disk will be a .... "Boot Disk".
Surprise!
It will do and contain all the stuff illustrated in the original post.

Bootdisk yes for sure. But the executable to create it could as well be a
Windows proggie, which would be easier : allow to create the bootdisk vefore
going to DOS.

Well have tried :
two problems
1 - have 4 USB devices connected ( scanner / printer / graphic tablet / USB
radio) : diskette hangs at trying to identify last one.
This happens in early phase.
Have "corrected" by disconnecting the USB device in question ( graphic
tablet)
2 - hangs at trying to find USB harddrives ( which I do not not have)
This happens later on after displaying the Caldera Dr_DOS message and
assigning drive letters.
Corrections possible ?

Thanks !

Vrok ... you simply have to click on the site as you see it ...
Don't try to add an "e" to the end of .exe .. that won't do it.

Try again.

An executable (sfx) it appears to be, but neither WinRar or WinAce can manage
to "open" it up. I am reluctant to double-click upon it (despite that Kaspersky
AVP does not warn on-scan).
