Multiple Installs from a network share

Phil

Hi all - a quick question: Is it possible for more than
one user to install an MSI from a network share (by
double-clicking it on the mapped drive)? I am trying to
help someone who says that they get a 'file in use' error
when more than one person is installing an MSI file.

All of the research I have done seems to lean toward
using Group Policies or an Administrative Installation to
distribute the MSI. But it doesn't say explicitly that
two people CAN'T install the same MSI at the same time.
It makes sense, but I need a definitive answer.

Thanks,
Phil

Concurrent usage of the same MSI is no problem at all. Any number of users
should be able to run from the same msi at the same time. If the msi was
locked, it would have thrown an error like "The installation package could
not be opened....."

I think the file in use error is different from what you think. It is just
saying that one of the files it is going install/update is in use.
