MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER ??

For some reason the sound on my Windows XP Professional System stopped
working and when I rebooted the machine I keep getting a "Found New
Hardware" dialog box looking for the driver for a Multimedia Audio
Controller. I immediatley went to my sound card web page ( Creative's SB
Live Value card) and downloaded the latest driver for XP, thinking that this
would solve my problem. By the way, this sound card worked great with XP
before this problem.

My sound came back but I continued getting the "Found New Hardware" dialog
box looking for the driver for a Multimedia Audio Controller when I
re-booted. In the Device Manager there is a yellow question mark next to a
catagory called "Other" and right next to the Other catagory is Multimedia
Audio Controller...???

I am totally stumped about this ....how can I find the driver needed to shut
the mouth of this dialog box constantly asking for the location of the
driver for Multimedia Audio Controller??
What is a Multimedia Audio Controller anyway?

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me on this problem.

Thanx

Jay

Is the Creative Gameport Controller showing up under Sound, Video and Game
Controllers in Device Manager? If it isn't point it to the files you
downloaded from the Creative website.

If the sound is working, your SB Live Value may well be correctly installed
with the Creative drivers which you have downloaded. The Multimedia Audio
Device which XP Pro keeps finding may well be an onboard sound chip which
has been inadvertantly enabled in the BIOS. Check and disable if
appropriate,
