msconfig & explorer problems

Simon

Hi,

I am able to view the contents of a cd in windows
explorer, however when I change cds I still see the files
of the first disk. The only way I can view the new cd is
if I reboot my PC. As everthing was working fine
yesterday, I decided to open msconfig to check for any
changes. To my suprise I get a "cannot
find 'msconfig'.." warning. This was also working fine
yesterday. I've just noticed I cannot open my Norton
Anti Virus via the icon in the system tray & my initial
post to this newsgroup never appeared. I've updated
virus profiles & also used the Symantec online scan
service. Everything is apparently clean. If anybody
could help it would be most appreciated. Thank you
kindly,

Simon

I have experianced the problem with CD files "sticking" until reboot.
It was caused when I disable DirectCD in startup of msconfig.
Have you disabled that, or its equivalent , on your system?
Disabling it also stopped the eject button on the CD from working !!!

Hope this is of some help.

That BTW is regarded as very undesirable - it still leaves associated
services running. If you do not want Direct CD (or InCD, similar) then
uninstall it properly

Yeah, (blush), I was experimenting and forgot to undo what I had done.
I guess I really am getting old. ;)
